Take care of yourself,
here's some answers.
Is this supposed to replace my current skincare routine?
No, our clay masks are not designed to replace your daily skincare regimen. Our masks are a fantastic supplement to your skincare routine and encourage you to slow down and practice mindfulness. They don't replace the essential daily steps of skin care. Clay masks primarily help in deep cleansing by drawing out impurities and excess oils from the pores, and they are great for weekly use. However, for daily skin health,we recommend the following basic skincare routine.
1. Start with a gentle cleanser to remove dirt, oil, and makeup.
2. Next, apply a serum tailored to your specific skin concerns, such as hydration or anti-aging.
3. After the serum, use a moisturiser or natural oil like our Golden Jojoba Oil to hydrate and protect the skin barrier.
4. Finally, always apply sunscreen during the day, even when it's cloudy, to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. This daily routine helps maintain overall skin health.
Complementing this with a clay mask once or twice a week is a wonderful addition.
Is DIY skincare unsafe?
No, DIY skincare isn't inherently unsafe—quite the opposite, it can be a delightful and effective way to tailor your skincare to your specific needs. However, it's crucial to approach DIY skincare with informed caution. The internet is teeming with DIY recipes and recommendations from individuals who may not have a formal background in dermatology or skincare. This can sometimes lead to advice that isn’t based on scientific evidence or safe practices.
Because we bring over 20 years of skincare experience to the table, we make sure that each recommendation is backed by both science and safety. We focus on ingredients that are not only effective but also have proven benefits, ensuring that your homemade skincare remedies complement your skin’s health rather than compromise it.
Remember, the goal is to nourish and spoil your skin!
Why do you use Kaolin Clay?
There's a couple of reasons we use Kaolin Clay. The first reason is that is AMAZING! Seriously, there are so many benefits to using kaolin clay on your skin. We've written some articles talking about it which you can check out here.
The second reason is that we recently purchased some vacant land in the Adelaide Hills and found it has rich deposits of Kaolin Clay! The more we researched its benefits, the more we realised how effective it is as a natural detoxifier, cleanser and gentle exfoliant. This discovery was the inspiration for our company.
Can you mix Matcha & Hibiscus in the same mask?
While you absolutely can mix matcha, hibiscus powder, and kaolin clay in the same face mask, we would recommend starting with one or the other.
Matcha is rich in antioxidants which can help reduce inflammation and even skin tone. Hibiscus, often called the 'Botox plant', is known for its anti-aging properties and ability to increase skin elasticity. Kaolin clay acts as a gentle exfoliator, removing impurities and helping to cleanse the skin without stripping it of natural oils.
Combining these ingredients can provide multiple benefits in one go, however there are a few considerations to keep in mind. The potency of matcha and hibiscus when mixed together might irritate sensitive skin, especially when mixed with the drawing properties of kaolin clay. It's important to do a patch test before applying the mask to your entire face. Also, the effectiveness of the mask may vary depending on the ratio of ingredients used; too much of any one ingredient might overpower the benefits of the others. If you do want to experiment, we would suggest starting with small amounts, to see how your skin reacts.
